Synge Maher, LMSW, received her Master’s Degree in Social Work and a Specialized Practice Certification in Crisis and Resilience from Fordham University. She has also completed Level One Training in Couples Counseling through the Gottman Institute and brings a rich background in psychoanalytic theory, CBT, Cooperative Parenting Solutions, and Motivational Interviewing. Drawing from both relational, insight-oriented and behavioral frameworks, she helps clients build resilience, ease symptoms of anxiety and depression, and move toward a more authentic, fulfilling life.

As a psychotherapist in our Upper West Side therapy group, Synge’s clinical experience spans work with adults, couples, and teens. Her practice centers on helping clients struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life transitions, neurodivergence, parenting issues, caregiving stress, and identity. Synge also specializes in working with parents of children with special needs or mental health issues. She approaches therapy with warmth, curiosity, and unconditional positive regard, tailoring her work to each client’s unique needs.
