Michaela Louvau is currently in her final year in her Master of Social Work at NYU Silver School of Social Work, with a clinical focus. Before attending NYU, Michaela studied Psychological Science and Sociology at The University of Vermont.
Michaela has years of experience working with children in multiple settings, and she looks forward to taking these skills into work with teens and young adults. She has provided counseling in individual and small group settings and has worked with children of all abilities, socioeconomic classes, and cultures. She also has experience working with immigrant and refugee populations.
Michaela has worked with clients on issues including: anxiety and depression, grief, ADHD, and adjusting to major life changes. She works with clients to promote self-esteem, social skills and learning coping strategies and aims to provide counseling that is supportive and non-judgmental. She strives to build a strong client-practitioner relationship and provide a warm, uplifting, and safe space for her clients.
Michaela is passionate about providing accessible and individually tailored mental health care, and she believes in a holistic therapeutic approach. She pulls from multiple therapeutic modalities to aid clients in achieving their goals, and helps clients learn skills that can be taken with them and used throughout their life journey. Michaela is in the process of becoming a licensed clinical social worker with a focus in psychotherapy.
